Synopsys Demonstration of Histogram of Gradients (HoG) on the DesignWare EV6x Vision Processor

Gordon Cooper, Product Marketing Manager for Embedded Vision Processors at Synopsys, demonstrates the company's latest embedded vision technologies and products at the May 2017 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Cooper demonstrates a pedestrian detection application using a Histogram of Gradients (HoG) algorithm running on the DesignWare EV6x Vision Processor. In the demo, a camera is capturing the room and the vector DSP within the EV6x is detecting and outlining the pedestrians within the image. Pedestrian detection is a critical function within SoCs built for ADAS, autonomous vehicles, and surveillance. Using the DesignWare EV6x Vision Processor for object detection applications enables designers to get the highest throughput and bandwidth efficiency using minimal power and area.
