Syracuse, N.Y. May 20, 2019 – JADAK, a business unit of Novanta Corporation (“Novanta”) announces the release of the Allegro In-Vitro Diagnostic 6MP Smart Camera, a machine vision camera designed specifically to complete standard pre-analytical IVD tasks on a rack of vials. The Allegro IVD 6MP Smart Camera, along with Clarity 3.0 software, can accurately and precisely detect and screen diagnostic samples in a timely manner, thus eliminating waste by conducting tests on incomplete samples and reducing errors typically caused by manual processes.
As a member of the Embedded Vision Alliance, JADAK will be debuting and demonstrating a reference design for the new Allegro IVD 6MP Smart Camera at the Embedded Vision Summit/Computer Vision Conference May 21 and May 22 at the Santa Clara Convention Center Booth #625. JADAK will then collaborate engineer-to-engineer with OEM customers to develop uniquely customized machine vision solutions for their applications.
The Allegro IVD 6MP Smart Camera includes FPGA capabilities, allowing parallel processing of machine vision tasks and onboard CPU, thus improving the throughput of the IVD analyzer. By capturing a high-quality image and executing multiple algorithms on the FPGA and onboard CPU without an additional processor, it will provide actionable data to the analyzer, improving speed, and reducing the errors and costs associated with manual processes.
The IVD 6MP Smart Camera extends the existing Allegro camera product line and is the first product launch with staff from the 2018 acquisition of Imaging Solutions Group (ISG) in Rochester, NY. The acquisition extended JADAK’s machine vision capabilities, adding experts in software, electrical, mechanical, and optical engineering.

Other highlights of Allegro IVD 6MP Smart Camera include:
- Increased resolution of the camera allows for image acquisition even in less than ideal settings.
- On-board LED illumination and small footprint allows the unit to be placed in a pre-designed clinical analyzer
- Clarity 3.0 machine vision software has been updated to offer pre-programmed pre-analytical tasks, including enhanced liquid level detection, cap classification, barcode decoding on trays or racks and color calibration which can be executed directly on the Allegro IVD 6MP Smart Camera
- JADAK is an MVTec Image Acquisition Partner, allowing customers to use the MVTec suite of software with the Allegro IVD 6MP Smart Camera
