Basler is expanding its portfolio of the recently introduced ace 2 camera series with 16 additional models featuring the Sony IMX334 CMOS sensor. The new cameras are complementing the ace 2 series with resolutions of 5 and 8.3 megapixels.
Ahrensburg, January 14, 2020 – Shortly after introducing its new ace 2 camera series, the camera manufacturer Basler presents 16 new models with the Sony IMX334 CMOS sensor. The models offer resolutions of 5 megapixels with up to 60 images per second and 8.3 megapixels (4K UHD) with up to 45 images per second.
The cameras are suitable for numerous application areas, such as for automatic optical inspection (AOI) or to check the correct alignment of parts or assemblies in the production of electronic devices (assembly alignment).
Their sensor size makes the 5 MP camera models an ideal fit for the Basler lenses with a 1/2.5” image circle. Customers can thus get an attractively priced camera and lens combination from one source.
The ace 2 camera series consists of the Basic and Pro product lines. Highlights include the new high-performance, in-camera features Pixel Beyond and Compression Beyond for more demanding applications.
Pixel Beyond lets customers change the pixel size. This enables them to scale the camera resolution according to their needs and thus reduce the data volume. They can also very conveniently reach optical equivalence with previously used sensors, which reduces the effort for redesigns.
Compression Beyond compresses the image data directly in the camera’s FPGA, in real time and without sacrificing image quality. This frees up more bandwidth, which makes much higher frame rates possible especially when using Gigabit Ethernet (GigE). Customers can thus operate the GigE interface in their system with the same hardware at up to twice the speed.
