Morpho’s Semantic Filtering is the 2020 Vision Product of the Year Award Winner in the Software and Algorithms category. Semantic Filtering is new IP from Morpho which improves camera image quality by combining the best of AI-based segmentation and pixel processing filters. In conventional imaging, computational photography algorithms are typically applied to the entire image, which can sometimes cause unwanted side effects such as loss of detail and textures, as well as in the appearance of noise in certain areas. Morpho’s Semantic Filtering is pre-trained to identify the semantics (i.e., the meaning) of each pixel in the object of interest, allowing the application of the right algorithm for each category, with different strength levels that are most effective to achieve the best image quality for still-image capture.
“We are excited to have had Morpho products win Vision Product of the Year honors for three years in a row. Morpho’s Semantic Filtering uses deep neural networks to understand the content of images, and then applies different classical image processing techniques to different portions of images. Morpho has developed this technology in collaboration with Qualcomm, the leader in smartphone technologies. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Qualcomm to develop advanced technologies and products which lead the edge AI industry”
Masaki Hilaga, President and Chief Executive Officer, Morpho
