Monica Houston, Technical Marketing Manager at Avnet, demonstrates the company’s latest edge AI and vision technologies and products at the 2022 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Houston demonstrates a stereo facial recognition application running on Avnet’s Edge AI Development Kit.
The kit is based on a production-ready SMARC module from Avnet Embedded and uses NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus MCU with on-chip neural processing unit (NPU). The dual-camera sensor included in the kit feeds a ResNet model running on the NPU to perform face detection and then calculates the distance from the camera using an OpenCV algorithm.
