Cadence Demonstration of Time-of-Flight Decoding on the Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP

Amol Borkar, Director of Product Marketing for Cadence Tensilica DSPs and Automotive Segment Director, demonstrates the company’s latest edge AI and vision technologies and products at the 2024 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Borkar demonstrates the use of a Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP for Time-of-Flight (ToF) decoding.

In this demonstration, the Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP integrated on an Axera AX650 SoC performs the task of the ToF decoder. The Q7 DSP receives the raw phase coded image from the camera and generates a depth map using ToF algorithms. Implementing ToF decoding on the Q7 DSP has shown significant performance improvement and flexibility compared to a CPU- or RTL-based implementations.

This demonstration was done in collaboration with LIPS (https://www.lips-hci.com/), a leading provider of 3D camera cameras machine vision solutions who also supplied the ToF algorithms and camera. To learn more, please visit ip.cadence.com.
