On Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (PDT), Embedded Vision Alliance member company AMD will host a tutorial on OpenVX, a royalty-free open standard API released by the Khronos Group in 2014. OpenVX enables performance and power-optimized computer vision functionality, especially important in embedded and real-time use cases.

The course covers both the function-based API and the graph (pipeline) API that enables developers to efficiently run portable computer vision algorithms on heterogeneous computing architectures (CPU and GPU).
A set of example algorithms from computational photography and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), mapped to OpenVX will be discussed.
The tutorial includes a hands-on practice session that gets participants started on solving real computer vision problems using AMD’s highly optimized open source OpenVX implementation.
Please bring your own laptop (Windows, Mac or Linux); all code will be provided.
Also included is the use of AMD’s rapid vision prototyping tool RunVX. RunVX allows you to get production computational performance on complex algorithms with just a few lines of scripting code.
