Computer vision innovators from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Google Brain Project will keynote the Embedded Vision Summit, addressing autonomous vehicles and deep learning, two of the hottest topics in visual intelligence.

The Embedded Vision Alliance today revealed the first keynote speakers and industry experts on the program at the Embedded Vision Summit, scheduled May 2-4 in Santa Clara, California. Larry Matthies, a NASA senior research scientist who participated in the development of vision systems for the Mars Exploration Rover and Mars Pathfinder missions, will talk about how advances in vision technology are enabling autonomous land, sea and air vehicles. Jeff Dean, Google Senior Fellow and leader of the Google Brain Project, will explain how deep learning is dramatically changing how computer vision is implemented in products.

“Computer vision has escaped the research halls and is marching into the mainstream,” says Jeff Bier, founder and CEO, Embedded Vision Alliance. “The Embedded Vision Summit brings together more than 1000 industry innovators, top technologists, business executives, and smart engineers – game changers from around the world who are designing ‘machines that see.’”

The Embedded Vision Summit, held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, is the only event focused exclusively on deployable computer vision for innovators seeking to incorporate visual intelligence into products. The 2016 Summit, a three-day educational event, presents the latest practical techniques for vision- based product development, as well as examining the commercial landscape, latest trends and business opportunities in this fast-emerging market. It will inspire participants to use embedded vision technology in new ways and to empower them with the know-how they need to integrate vision capabilities into products. The Vision Technology Showcase features dozens of demos, exhibits and presentations on the enabling technologies from top computer vision suppliers.

Participants will learn the business implications of computer vision and how to bring visual intelligence into cloud applications, embedded systems, mobile apps, and wearables. The Summit will present vision applications across a wide range of industries such as automotive, aerospace and defense, agriculture, consumer, entertainment, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, medical, mobile, retail, robotics and security.
