Alec Rivers, co-founder of Shaper Tools, Inc., demonstrates the company's latest embedded vision technologies and products at the May 2017 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Rivers demonstrates using the Shaper Origin, a first-of-its-kind digital power tool enabled by embedded vision. He shows how the power tool uses an onboard camera to track its position in 3D, and a robotic stage to adjust a rotary cutting bit's position to snap it to a digital design. The combination of these technologies provides an "autocorrect for your hands" functionality that allows an unskilled user to cut complex shapes to 1/100" accuracy freehand.
