CANA Deep Neural Network for Robust Perception Recognized as Best Object Recognition Solution
Montreal, Canada – June 27, 2018 – Algolux, the leading provider of machine learning optimization platforms for autonomous vision, has won this year’s inaugural AI Breakthrough Award. Algolux was honored with the award for Best Object Recognition Solution for its CANA full-stack deep neural network (DNN) for robust perception as determined by an independent panel of expert judges.
The AI Breakthrough Awards are open to all companies, technologies, and products in the artificial intelligence industry today, recognizing the best in Artificial Intelligence (AI) globally through over 2500 nominations across a range of disciplines, such as natural language processing, biometrics, robotics, and computer vision. All award nominations were reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of AI industry experts, with the highest scored nominee being named the winner in each category.
The ability for the computer vision system to accurately perceive objects and surroundings is mission-critical for applications such as improving safety in ADAS and autonomous driving or delivering robust detection for video surveillance. This becomes quite difficult in challenging imaging conditions, such as low light and adverse weather, thereby reducing system usability and confidence. Algolux’s CANA applies a novel end-to-end DNN that integrates the image formation model with the high-level computer vision model to significantly improve accuracy versus today’s alternative state of the art approaches across these challenging scenarios. Furthermore, CANA is modular in that in can be integrated with third party perception systems and across a range of power profiles, from high-performance 250W central computing platforms to sub 1W edge processors.
“We are honored to win this AI Breakthrough Award for the Best Object Recognition Solution for our CANA robust perception DNN stack. This acknowledgment from industry experts recognizes our novel application of artificial intelligence to uniquely address the challenges of accurate perception under difficult imaging conditions,” said Allan Benchetrit, Algolux President and CEO. “The award reinforces how Algolux’s AI technology for autonomous vision provides a path to impact the mission-critical concerns of safety and robustness for markets such as automotive, video surveillance and many others.”
